Denmark 'has lots to offer' on a family holiday
Travellers stuck for an idea of where to take a break this summer may find there are many reasons to opt for a trip to Denmark, according to a flight comparison website.
One of the major attractions for visitors to the Scandinavian country is the water and water sports - from parasailing to jet skiing and fishing - are a popular past time around the islands of Zealand and Fin, said Skyscanner.com, although travellers should make sure their activities are covered under their holiday insurance before they go.
The weather is "pleasantly warm" in Denmark during the summer months and there are several city swimming beaches around the capital city, Copenhagen, to cool off in, it suggested.
Being the smallest of the Scandanavian countries, Denmark is famous for being able to get around by bicycle and is "one of the most bike-friendly capitals".
For children, there is also a lot to see and do, explained the flight website, with one of the oldest zoos in Europe, the Little Mermaid statue and Legoland to keep them amused.
Another way to get around the city is by boat and families can take a family adventure around the country's waterways by kayak or canoe.
There are also ferries that can transport visitors between Denmark's numerous small islands.
