An expert has said that the number of people looking to visit locations such as Kenya on luxury breaks has risen recently.
There has been a significant rise in demand for luxury African holidays recently, an expert has said.
According to Louise Newton, public relations and marketing manger of excursion firm Somak, budget African holidays have become less popular in comparison to their luxury counterparts as holidaymakers seek to visit places such as Kenya and Namibia for special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries and honeymoons.
"Demand for Namibia, Botswana and Zambia is on the rise as those who have previously done safaris in Kenya and Tanzania look to go further afield," said Ms Newton.
The official added that holidays in East Africa offer something for everyone, as adventurous travellers can go on safari while those looking to wind down can instead head for the region's stunning beaches.
A recent study by Visa on how and where the company's 86 million UK cardholders are spending their cash revealed that there have been rises of 53 and 28 per cent respectively in the amount being spent by tourists in Kenya and Namibia since 2009.
