More holidaymakers now see cruises as mainstream rather than just for the wealthy, according to one expert.
Travellers are increasingly viewing cruises as a mainstream holiday option as opposed to one that is reserved for the wealthy, an expert has said.
Bob Atkinson, travel expert at Travelsupermarket.com, explained that cruise holidays have become more and more popular over the last few years in tandem with other kinds of all-inclusive breaks.
"The cruise holiday lends itself very much to that all-inclusive style of break. There are some ships that are totally all-inclusive," he commented.
However, those considering such a holiday may find that they will have to purchase their
travel insurance separately.
A recent survey conducted by YouGov suggested that British cruise-goers prefer Venice over other destinations worldwide, with Mr Atkinson stating that this is unsurprising as the city is a unique one that is rich in history and culture.
"It's romantic and ticks every kind of box you can imagine," he remarked.
Over half of respondents to the poll also said that great port scenery and local excursions were the most important feature of a cruise port for them.
