Travellers planning to enjoy a discounted cruise have been warned to look out for hidden extras.
Travel insurance customers have been given advice to avoid paying over the odds for seemingly inexpensive cruise deals.
According to the 2010 edition of the Berlitz Complete Guide to Cruising, quoted by Travel Mole, discounts on cruise deals may have specific restrictions in place.
The recession has led to a number of discounts being given for cruises, which the book points out means that it is a good time to have a cheaper cruise break.
At the same time, it warns that people may find they cannot get the deals on certain dates or for particular destinations, or their meal times may be restricted.
The advice came as the publication, known as a crucial book for the cruising industry, reached its 25th anniversary.
Last week, In2Town magazine suggested cruising down the canals in Amsterdam to admire the old buildings higher up.
The publication also listed the Heineken brewery, flower markets and the Hortus botanical garden as attractions in Holland.
