Credit crunch 'won't affect holiday faves'
Even if the credit crunch sees less people going on holiday, the top travel destinations will remain the same, according to one expert.
Sean Tipton, spokesman for ABTA - The Travel Association, stated Spain, France, the USA, Italy and Greece are the most popular places to visit for Brits and this "won't change" as a result of the economic situation.
He highlighted the fact that four of these countries are within the eurozone and said that even though the pound is currently weak against the euro, the dominance of Europe as a holiday destination for UK tourists is so great that people will continue to visit the continent.
"People are still going to be taking holidays in the eurozone because it is so dominant - countries like Spain and Greece have massive numbers of Brits visiting each year," Mr Tipton remarked.
According to the recently published Holiday Cost of Living survey from Thomas Cook, the holiday hotspots of Spain, Majorca and Cyprus remain cheaper than the UK.
