Corfu has plenty to offer visitors of all tastes, a tourism official claims.
Tourists might view Corfu as a spot that is ideal for relaxing at a poolside or on the beach, but it is also steeped in history.
Aggeliki Rouva, a spokeswoman for the Regional Unit of Corfu at the Greek National Tourism Organization, explains there are plenty of historical and cultural sights to visit.
Sites date back to ancient antiquity and there are plenty of monuments that should be of interest to travel insurance policyholders and others.
There is also a "wide spectrum of museums testify to the fact that Corfu has a lot to offer to visitors who have high expectations from their holiday destination", Ms Rouva states.
The Museum of Asian Arts, the Achilleon Palace, Mon Repos and Angelokastro are just some of the spots she suggests heading to, with the latter being a fortification that the Venetians built on the island's north-west coast.
Music lovers will find plenty to occupy themselves, with many philharmonic orchestras and concerts on offer - particularly during June and July, when the festival of Ionian Concerts takes place.
Ms Rouva explains there is also a "diverse environment" that makes Corfu perfect for carrying out sports and other activities.
She says these range "from water sports to hiking and trekking in hidden paths in the olive groves to bird watching in protected eco-systems".
This all adds up to make Corfu an ideal location for all tastes and will provide a "complete experience" for holidaymakers.
The recent Post Office Cost Barometer found bars and restaurants in Corfu have cut prices by ten per cent, which could make a trip to the country far more affordable.
