Cruises can offer varied and exciting holidays.
Travel insurance policyholders can head on a unique type of holiday by enjoying an adventure cruise over the coming months.
According to Adam Coulter, editor of Cruise-international.com, this type of break is becoming increasingly common.
He claims: "Caribbean cruising has been popular for years now, but for many the popular view of cruising is people lolling around and not really doing very much - this is more about getting up close and personal with things."
It suits tourists who want something different from their time abroad and the adventure element tends to get people extremely excited about the event.
Those who have already cruised areas such as the Mediterranean before may well look forward to this interesting type of trip.
Arctic and Antarctic routes can be quite a challenge and Mr Coulter describes them as "hardcore", but extremely rewarding.
If this sounds appealing, the expert advises carrying out plenty of research before setting off, looking into elements such as the type of ship available and what sort of kit will be needed.
There are different levels of adventure, as some holidaymakers will be expected to carry out physical activities, while others will simply sit on deck and watch the icebergs, Mr Coulter notes.
Danielle Fear, managing director of CruiseCompare.co.uk, recently suggested families ensure there are plenty of things to keep kids busy before deciding on a liner.
She said there are many options available, so it is a wise move to pick one that is specifically suited to individual needs.
