Travellers keen to build on their language skills as well as getting active on their time away are able to do both in Europe's surfing capital of Biarritz.
While most travellers head to the holiday destination in the South of France for little more than a sun-soaked beach break, it is now becoming increasingly popular among those keen to learn a new skill or two.
In particular, visitors are able to take advantage of the city's many language schools to boost their French skills in the morning before hitting the beach and taking surfing classes in the afternoons, meaning that even newcomers to both are able to combine sport and languages with all the usual attractions of a holiday to the south of France, namely excellent weather and fine cuisine.
According to the Guardian's Beverley Fearis, who took a combined surfing and language holiday, Bearritz also boasts "funky shops, bars and cafes" and boasts the same "buzz and energy" as Brighton, as well as excellent year-round waves that "attract surfers from all over the world".
Holidaymakers keen to get active while away should always take out
travel insurance, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) has advised, with activities such as surfing often needing more comprehensive premiums.
