Those trying to arrive at Stansted Airport have been advised the cold snap is still causing problems.
Holiday insurance policyholders hoping to jet off abroad from Stansted Airport during January have been advised to leave plenty of time for their journey.
The recent cold snap has damaged some of the trains operated by the
Stansted Express, which has resulted in a reduced timetable being put in place.
Just two trains are running each hour between Liverpool Street and the hub, and the operator states: "We strongly recommend you plan to arrive at the airport at least three hours before your flight departs."
The problems have been attributed to "a shortage of serviceable trains" thanks to snow and ice that gripped the south of England during December 2010.
A similar scene could be on the cards today (January 7th), as the
Met Office has issued flash warnings of severe or extreme weather in preparation for heavy snow in parts of Scotland, Wales, central and south-west England.
However, the issues could continue despite the weather, as route improvement and modernisation work is also scheduled from January 16th onwards, when buses will replace carriages between Broxbourne and Audley End and Liverpool Street and Stansted Airport until 07:45 GMT.
Stratford Cambridge services will be disrupted as trains will be diverted from Tottenham Hale to start from Liverpool Street - they will not call at Stratford, however.
Anyone attempting to travel on January 22nd, 23rd or 30th could do well to check their arrangements before embarking on any trip, as similar diversions are scheduled to complete the engineering work on those dates.
