Policies can change so it is important to make sure that you are checking.
People who are going on holiday will be well aware that there is a need for travel insurance wherever the destination may be, with a need to make sure that you and your loved ones are protected in the eventuality that you are injured, become ill, or lose your luggage.
However, according to an expert in travel, policies can change so often that it is important to make sure you are checking the details of your policy before you fly to avoid any complications.
Abigail Comber, head of marketing at British Airways, said that the policies can be vital in the case of anything happening when you are away, which makes it important to make sure that all cover is relevant and substantial.
"All the travel insurance policies really change, so it is really important to check your insurance policy before you fly. It is really important to take travel insurance, especially for any situation that might occur where something gets stolen or a medical emergency. Always make sure you take it and thoroughly read the policy before you go."
She also said that when travelling, make sure that you know the baggage allowance with your airline, as this can not only save you from having to pay the excess if you go over, but can also give you a surprise if allowance is high, letting you take more luggage on holiday with you.
"British Airways give you 23 kilos to check on and take that amount on board as well. So, make the most of it," she said, encouraging people to take everything that they think they might need, rather than having to scrimp on the essentials.
Recently, Mike Powell, Defaqto's insight analyst for general insurance, said that people should be looking to buy travel insurance as soon as they book their holiday, for peace of mind.
