An unusual activity could keep tourists arriving in Florida entertained.
Tourists arriving in Florida might spend some of their holiday searching for unusual activities to keep them and their families entertained - and cattle ranching may hold appeal.
The 2010 Florida Ranch Rodeo Finals are being held in Kissimmee on October 1st and 2nd and boast a plethora of events such as team doctoring, cattle sorting, cold riding and cow milking.
But those anticipating a professional show may be surprised by the fact that all the activities are hosted by the local agricultural community and their steeds, instead of expert riders.
However, the Cowboy Festival is where enthusiastic participants can really get their hands dirty as swamp cabbage cooking, whip cracking contests, spur-making demonstrations and cowboy poetry have all been arranged. And for the first time ever, a beef brisket cook off will be held with plenty of food for everyone attending.
The heritage of this lifestyle has been cemented in two centuries of history and both the rodeo competition and the cowboy festival have been designed to celebrate the experience.
But the climax of the weekend is likely to come during the final of the rodeo contest - teams of men and women will gather after reigning champion at 12 regional rounds. Each one is riding for "buckles and bragging rights" and will demonstrate their prowess of years in the saddle.
Anyone looking to participate in such an event should check their travel insurance policy covers them for the sport they would like to pursue.
Taking part in such a vigorous activity is likely to have families work up an appetite, but vegetarians will be well catered for if recent research from Skyscanner is anything to go by. However, the more adventurous foodies might prefer to sample alligator meat, which is also widely available.
