More activities available for those holidaying domestically.
People who choose to take their trips in a caravan looking for cheap travel insurance and holidaying domestically have more options available to them than those who choose to holiday abroad on package holidays in the sun.
According to one expert, those who opt for a caravan break are widening the horizons of where that can go and what they can do, while not limiting themselves to certain activities or destinations.
Polly Bishop, press officer for The Caravan Club, said that the Caravan Club is changing the way it looks at holidays in light of the way that it sees the options people have when they take a break in their caravans, with its new magazine offering region reviews, rather than single destination reviews, showing what can be done over a larger area.
Last week, it was reported by the Camping and Caravanning Club that the number of new members it had enrolled over the past three years had increased, with a higher proportion joining up in each 12 month period, a trend which it says will be likely to continue into 2012.
Ms Bishop says that caravan holidays and touring are more popular with people who know what they like, or have specific hobbies, as it allows them to pursue such pastimes over larger areas.
"Many take up touring to help pursue their hobby, as it provides the perfect base for visiting historical attractions, events and surf spots - to name just a few examples up and down the country."
She said that people who enjoy experiencing differing foods and cultures which are prevalent in certain areas of the country will get more from having the freedom to move around when they are on holiday in a caravan.
