People are increasingly holidaying at home.
As people across the country increasingly see what the UK has to offer in terms of financially viable and activity filled holidays, the rise in staycations, where people holiday at home rather than abroad, continues, with travel insurance customers looking for fun-filled breaks without the huge outlay.
One sector which has seen growth as a result of this trend becoming ever-more popular is that of the caravan.
Recently, it was reported by the Camping and Caravanning Club that there have been great advances in the technology which is available in caravans, which has led to more people than ever opting to take the breaks thanks to the new levels of luxury they can offer.
Now, John Dale of the Camping and Caravanning Club said that there is a new level of popularity for breaks in caravans this year, as people continue to appreciate the affordability that they can offer long term, as well as enjoying the benefits of having the freedom to travel anywhere they want to.
"We've seen promising statistics in the last few months including an impressive 50 per cent rise in campers visiting our club sites over the Christmas period and a five per cent rise in advance bookings for the coming Easter weekend despite the current economic climate," said Mr Dale.
The expert also said that recent surveys from the club and Liverpool John Moore's University showed that taking breaks in a caravan can make people feel emotionally richer, describing the findings of the survey as being "conclusive".
Mr Dale said that 85 per cent of those who were surveyed believed that camping and caravanning made them healthier, with almost half of all respondents believing that it should be prescribed to people on the NHS to make them feel the benefits of taking a break in the countryside.
