Budget hostels 'live up to the hype'
A growing number of people are looking to stay in budget hostels offering a service that is close to that of a full hotel, it has been reported.
According to the Daily Mail, the world has experienced the rise of the 'poshtel' over the past few years, which offers backpackers and travellers a step up from a traditional hostel, but at a much lower price than the majority of hotels.
The newspaper reports on the success of Palmer's Lodge, a "Victorian gem" that describes itself as a "boutique backpackers" resort, the newspaper states.
With the current recession meaning more people are planning to downsize their holiday budgets this year, the success of the poshtels looks set to continue, by offering cheap accommodation for backpackers and other travellers, many of whom are likely to have travel insurance.
Meanwhile, the Daily Telegraph has been highlighting some of the most important tips for young people planning a gap year this summer, such as remembering to take out travel insurance.
With fewer people being able to get jobs as the recession continues, more young people could decide to become backpackers and head off on a gap year in the hope that the job market will improve by the time they return.
