The Hungarian capital offers a perfect location for a city break, according to a tourism spokesman.
Budapest should be high on the priority list for anyone seeking a good value-for-money holiday destination this
summer, an expert has said.
The Hungarian capital plays host to a wide range of events and festivities this
summer and also offers low prices for both accommodation and living costs as it lies outside the crisis-hot eurozone.
According to Karin Jones from the Hungarian National Tourist Office, the city is on a par with more established city-break destinations around Europe in terms of culture, architecture, gastronomy and nightlife, all of which are available at a fraction of the price of places such as Madrid and Rome.
"In Budapest, you can find a top-class luxury or boutique hotel for less than cost of something similar in cities like Berlin or Paris," he said.
And it appears that the low prices found in eastern European locations such as Budapest and Prague could fall further, if recent data is to be believed.
The HotStats Chain Hotels Market review, which was published on June 29th, reveals that increasing supply of hotels in these destinations in the post-recession period could lead to costs being slashed in order to drive room occupancy higher.
Indeed, the amount of rooms being taken in the Hungarian capital rose by 11.7 per cent over the course of May.
Mr Jones went on to state that people visiting Budapest should also consider taking a train or bus out to other areas of the country, such as Lake Balaton which is renowned for its sailing conditions.
Anyone considering a trip to Hungary this
summer should take out
travel insurance before leaving home.
