Northern Egypt could be the ideal destination for British holidaymakers, according to the country's tourism office.
Britons have been urged to consider northern Egypt when booking their next sunshine getaway.
According to the Egyptian State Tourism Office, the so-called White Med will be more accessible to UK visitors later this year once Thomson's new direct flights from Manchester and Gatwick to the area are launched.
Northern Egypt offers much for tourists, including beautiful beaches, a variety of water sports, cultural attractions and easy access to other destinations within the country, says Khaled Ramy, director of the Egyptian State Tourist Office.
These include El Alamein, Alexandria and Cairo, he notes, adding: "You can do trips to the desert, like the Oasis of Siwa."
A range of luxury hotels and other facilities are also on hand for those prepared to spend more on their holidays, Mr Ramy said.
Holidaymakers booking their
travel insurance for a trip to Egypt can also enjoy jeep, quad bike and camel safaris while in the country.
