There is much to see and do on a holiday to California.
California is a land of contrast and holidaymakers must ensure they explore the state and see everything that it has to offer, according to one expert.
Maddy Morgan, PR director for California Tourism UK and Ireland, said that many people feel familiar with California thanks to iconic attractions featuring regularly on TV, including the Golden Gate Bridge and Rodeo Drive.
However, these are just a small insight into what awaits travellers to the area, as there are a whole host of other places to see and things to do.
These include ski resorts in Lake Tahoe and Mammoth Mountain, world-class wineries and natural hot springs.
"The key to getting the most out of California is allowing yourself time to enjoy the variety of what's on offer," Ms Morgan added.
Holidaymakers who do plan to try the ski resorts may want to purchase suitable
travel insurance to cover any mishaps on the slopes.
California's Travel and Tourism Commission said in an article in the LA Times recently that it expects visitor numbers to increase by three per cent this year.
