Britons look set to abandon the UK's cold winter in favour of sunshine abroad, according to a new survey.
Many Britons are likely to head abroad for some winter sun this year rather than stay in the UK, a new poll has suggested.
Carried out by Hotelly.com, the study shows that 41 per cent of holidaymakers went abroad in October alone to destinations such as Sharm el Sheikh and Tenerife.
It also draws on search data indicating that a high number of Britons are looking for beach holidays in the run-up to Christmas.
"This is a direct result of Brits taking a 'staycation' in the summer and, quite frankly, being let down by the weather," remarked Vishal Jain, director at Hotelly.com.
The website advises that when it comes to
travel insurance, holidaymakers should ensure their policies include airline failure cover.
According to the Telegraph, those looking for a good value winter sun break should book their breaks to take place in either the six weeks preceding mid-December or immediately after the start of the new year.
