Brits 'should get aboard a ferry this fortnight'
UK travel insurance customers are being urged to climb aboard a boat and "discover the gems on Britain's doorstep" as part of National ferry fortnight.
Writing for the Times, Tony Dawe said people in Britain do not make the most of the seas that surround them and it is "time to take to the boats".
National ferry fortnight begins on Saturday May 9th and a wide range of discounts will be available for people setting sail until May 22nd.
"We are hoping this promotion will inspire a new generation of travellers to discover the treasures on our doorstep and remind those who have forgotten how accessible and easy ferry travel can be," said William Gibbons, director of the Passenger Shipping Association, which represents ferry and cruise operators that are taking part.
Travel insurance customers can head to nine foreign destinations from the UK by ferry as part of the fortnight, including Sweden, Norway, Spain, France and Ireland.
Ferries also serve 22 islands and four peninsulas in Scotland from the Shetlands and the Isle of Skye to less known Gigha and Raasay.
Even if you’re travelling within the UK, holiday insurance from Direct Travel Insurance is still a sensible purchase as the expense of dealing with issues on a holiday can be costly in any country.
