Brits 'opting to travel with their parents to save money'
Britons intent on taking a break this summer have found a new way of saving money when it comes to travel by joining their parents on a holiday, it has been reported.
Some 52 per cent of holidaymakers in their 20s have admitted to considering a cheap break with their parents this year and 14 per cent already have their trips booked, a study by Holiday-Rentals.co.uk revealed.
The new genre of travellers have been dubbed "HOMADs" - Holiday on Mum and Dad - and whilst 17 per cent stated their reason for opting for this method of holidaying is so they can feel like a child again, 30 per cent confessed to expecting their parents to foot the cost.
"Going away as a larger group can really help to keep the costs down and holidaying with your parents can even help you recreate the fun trips you had as a child," said Courtney Wylie, managing director of the website.
Holidaymakers could save even more on their costs this summer by not purchasing their travel insurance policy from their travel agent, according to Confused.com who reported in May that travellers could pay as much as 500 per cent too much by not shopping around.
