Britons are turning to the web in their droves to book their summer holidays, according to Experian Hitwise.
New figures have revealed that a growing number of Britons appear to be going online to research and book their
summer getaways.
Statistics from web measurement firm Experian Hitwise show that the likes of easyJet, Thomas Cook, British Airways, the Trainline and Thomson Holidays saw significant growth in their online popularity in January.
"With Christmas and sales shopping mostly out of the way and snow covering much of the country, during January British consumers turned their attention to planning and booking their
summer holidays," commented Robin Goad, director of research for Experian Hitwise.
Last week, Santander released research findings suggesting that 44 per cent of Britons looking to save money by booking their holidays directly rather than via a travel agent went online to do so last year.
Britons saved £4.92 billion in total by avoiding third parties and making their bookings direct in 2009.
