The UK is an important tourist market for Malta, according to the Malta Tourism Authority.
Malta is seeing a growing number of Britons visit its shores for a holiday, making the UK a particularly important source of tourists.
This is according to Alex Incorvaja of the Malta Tourism Authority, who noted that 35 per cent of the 1.3 million holidaymakers who visit the island every year hail from the UK.
While Malta is a relatively small destination, it is packed with things to see and do, he added.
Mr Incorvaja stated: "We have history, some fantastic hotels, nice restaurants, picturesque museums and historical sites. Malta is ideal for a weekend break or a seven to 14-night stay."
Those worried about the cost of holidaying in Malta might be able to lessen their financial burden with cheap
travel insurance.
According to a report released by the Post Office earlier this year, however, the island is actually the third cheapest destination in the eurozone after Spain and Portugal.
