Britain has a "stunning coastal landscape" for holidaymakers
Brits who have taken out UK travel insurance for a break in the UK this summer will have plenty of great beaches to relax on and enjoy the hot weather, the tourist board has said.
"This year is officially one of the best on record for the quality of England's beaches offering a great opportunity to people looking for a low-cost, stress-free way of taking a break," explained Jenny McGee, head of strategy and communications at VisitEngland.
Ms McGee said that the "stunning" English coastline remained an important focus for UK tourists enjoying a domestic holiday.
In 2009, beaches in England received 113 Quality Coast Awards and 72 were awarded Blue Flags.
However, many people are still choosing to venture to faraway destinations for their coastal break.
According to findings from a study carried out by Corona Save the Beach in June, the average Brit spends £872 on a foreign beach holiday every year.
Some 45,393,000 trips abroad were made by travel insurance customers from the UK in 2008.
Even if you’re travelling within the UK, holiday insurance from Direct Travel Insurance is still a sensible purchase as the expense of dealing with issues on a holiday can be costly in any country.
