The north-east of Brazil could prove interesting to explore
Cheap travel insurance customers in search of a unique and exciting holiday might consider exploring Brazil.
Rather than heading straight to classic areas such as Rio and Sao Paulo, all of which have plenty of sights, travellers might instead like to check out the north-east, suggests Glauco Chris Fuzinatto, UK and Ireland director at the Brazilian Tourist Office.
He says: "It's an area that has got so much to offer from luxury, to backpackers, sun and beach, culture, sports events [and] pleasure, it's an amazing part."
Going on to explain the geography of this lesser-known area, the expert notes there are nine states in the north-east, out of a total of 26 across Brazil.
While it might not yet be as popular as areas such as Igauassu Falls, Salvador and the Amazon, this region has got plenty of potential to grow.
And the lack of previous tourists may well prove to be a huge selling point for those with travel insurance who want to discover places for themselves.
Bradt recently published a new travel guide that concentrated on the attractions of Bahia, in the north-eastern part of Brazil.
Its author Alex Robinson said he still finds it a mystery that this area is so under-explored compared with popular backpacking zones such as Australia, Asia and the Caribbean.
While Brazilians are well aware of its beauty, it seems foreigners are less switched on to the potential there, he added.
Some 1,200km of soft white sand is waiting to be walked across and there is plenty of Baroque architecture to see, the author noted.
