Istanbul has something to offer every kind of tourist.
Travel insurance policyholders could be tempted by a trip to the largest city in Turkey after finding out the many activities on offer in the metropolis.
According to Time Out, Istanbul has a vast history that can be explored on a holiday in the region, especially at the Topkapi Palace, which was at the heart of the Ottoman reign for more than three centuries.
The Church of St Chora is also a wonder to behold, designed in the Byzantine style and filled with Christian mosaics and frescos from the era, preserved immaculately by the Islamic owners of the building.
Another tradition in Turkey is the bazaar and visitors to Istanbul can try their hand at bargaining with vendors at the Grand Bazaar, which is made up of 5,500 stalls of carpets food and jewellery.
However, the magazine warned that tourists should not try to get too low a price for their products as many of the shopkeepers pay high rent for their market space.
"While beating down the price remember that the vendors pay their rent in gold - a hefty seven kilos a year for shops on the main avenue," it explained.
It was recently said that Turkey is the ideal country to visit at any time of the year, as there are plenty of attractions to suit all types of holiday.
That was the view of Joanna Marsh, PR co-ordinator for the Turkish Culture and Tourism Office, who suggested that "Turkey is a destination for all seasons" thanks to its climate.
