Being careful with credit cards 'can help make holiday cutbacks'
Being clever with credit card use abroad can help make savings on holiday spending.
This is according to Santander Cards, which found that ten million Brits were looking to spend less on their holidays this year.
It also noted that 27 per cent of people fail to stick to their budget while on a break, with £127 a week being the average amount that travellers overspend by.
"Britons can make their money go further while they're abroad by always paying in the local currency ... and using a credit card that doesn't charge a fee for converting transactions made in a foreign currency," explained Callum Gibson, director at Santander Cards.
Other ways that Brits are making sure they spend less on their travel this summer is by eating out less and taking fewer local trips once in their resort.
The Post Office revealed recently that 23 per cent of people were considering not taking out a travel insurance policy in order to save money.
Rachel Croft, head of travel insurance at the company, stated that holiday insurance is inexpensive and can avoid the risk of being out of pocket should the worse happen.
