People looking for a relaxing break might find Tunisia offers plenty of opportunities.
Tourists looking to get away from it all on a beach holiday with plenty of choices for accommodation could do well to take one expert's advice and visit Tunisia.
Ffion Davies, press attache for the country's National Tourist Office, confirmed the nation has "lots of hotels" and approximately 40 have dedicated their services to providing a relaxing spa experience with thalasso therapy - treatments that incorporate sea water, seaweed and marine-based mud baths, body wraps and aromatherapy.
The island of Djerba is "a nice retreat if you want a luxurious getaway", she added, as it boasts 18 of those offering thalasso treatments.
Once the pampering has been completed, travel insurance customers might want to hit the beach and Ms Davies explained that many visitors arrive on the island simply for this reason.
And film fans might recognise some of the landscape there, as Star Wars was filmed in Matmata and The English Patient was captured against the backdrop of the desserts in Douz, the official continued.
Indeed, it would seem many holidaymakers are already taking the advice, as figures released by the United Nations World Tourism Organisation have revealed Africa experienced a nine per cent growth in the number of passenger arrivals during 2009 and was the only region studied that managed to maintain increasing numbers during this time.
And the Tunisian National Tourist Office for the World Travel Market has stated Tunisia saw an 8.1 per cent rise in passenger figures during 2009 and 276,872 British tourists arrived between January and September this year.
