Australia offers British travellers an ideal destination, an expert believes.
Britons looking for a long-term home-from-home after taking out travel insurance may be well advised to consider an extended stay in Australia, an expert believes.
Because of the vast distance people have to travel from the UK to the Australasian nation, there is often a common misconception about what they can expect when they arrive down under.
Some anticipate something of a culture shock and wonder whether they will be able to get used to having Christmas dinner in the middle of summer as opposed to in front of a roaring fire in the freezing December temperatures back home.
However, according to Tom Blackett, spokesman for the Australian Visa Bureau, nothing could be further from the truth.
Mr Blackett described the location as somewhere "that speaks English, enjoys wit and sarcasm and has a love of pub culture and cricket", but does not have the drawback of bad weather, making it the perfect destination for Britons sick and tired of miserable conditions.
Indeed, the specialist went on to suggest that many visitors may end up wanting to stay there permanently, as Australia represents a "young and prosperous nation teeming with social, economic and lifestyle opportunities".
Furthermore, the country offers a lifestyle that is both "healthy and rewarding", as well as boasting "10,000 beaches and almost perpetual summer", meaning it possesses an abundance of attractive qualities, Mr Blackett continued.
Recently, Brooke Schoneman, travel writer of WhyGo Australia, urged holidaymakers to explore world-renowned locations such as the Great Barrier Reef while down under.
