An expert has said that caravan and holiday parks in the UK have experienced an upturn in bookings due to the chaos caused by the Icelandic ash cloud.
The Icelandic volcano ash cloud has resulted in an upturn in the number of holidaymakers considering taking a break in a caravan this year, an expert said yesterday (May 24th).
According to Marcus Dubois, editor of Caravantimes.co.uk, many people who would ordinarily head abroad on a budget holiday are instead deciding to stay in the UK this year in order to avoid the possibility of their break being disrupted by the ash cloud, which has forced many flight delays and cancellations over the last month or so.
Also contributing to the upturn in caravan holidays being arranged is the recent spell of hot weather throughout the country, which has seen temperatures hit 28 degrees C over the last few days.
"One example of this is advanced bookings at the Caravanning and Camping Club for the May bank holiday being up seven per cent," said Mr Dubois.
Meanwhile, British holiday firm Haven has recorded a 60 per cent rise in bookings for seven-night stays at its parks up and down the UK during the upcoming May half term holidays.
Travel insurance should still be high on the list of pre-vacation purchase priorities for people even if they do not leave Britain.
Even if you're travelling within the UK,
holiday insurance from Direct
Travel Insurance is still a sensible purchase as the expense of dealing with issues on a holiday can be costly in any country.
