Aqua City boasts attractions focusing on the conservation of the world's water creatures, while interactive activities and shops are available for tourists to enjoy.
The honourable Donald Tsang, chief executive of the Hong Kong special administrative region, was present at the launch of the venue and said: "The new Aqua City ... showcases rare fish and marine creatures in one of Asia's largest aquariums."
He said the technology and facilities have been upgraded to a high standard and will continue to be improved for the families and children that plan to visit time and again.
Educational programmes have been set up to engage students and schoolchildren who attend, while the facility itself boasts classrooms - one with a private touch pool - with interactive displays and audio equipment that can be used during lessons.
