A holiday in Italy could be very, very beautiful, expert says
Tourists who like to enjoy the scenery while on holiday, might agree with one expert that some parts of Italy are "very, very beautiful".
Stefania Gatta, a spokeswoman for the Italian State Tourist Board, was talking about the coastline around Brindisi when she made the aforementioned statement.
She attributed increasing numbers of visitors in the area to the fact that it has an airport and the surrounding towns have many hotels and resorts.
Food lovers could find themselves spoilt for choice as cuisine in this region is reasonably priced and "very genuine".
In particular, facilities in Puglia are affordable - Ms Gatta pointed out that eating and travelling are not expensive.
"You can find some very secluded and deserted beaches as well if you have the car, you can find an isolated spot and just enjoy it on your own," she continued.
Sun-worshippers will not be disappointed either, as the south-western province is particularly warm in the
summer months. Houses are painted white to compensate and the landscape reflects the "sun-baked" atmosphere.
Hiring a vehicle is recommended, so motorists could sample the delights of Lecce, Otranto or Gallipoli, according to Ms Gatta.
Travel arrangements should not be difficult to make, as passenger traffic on flights to Brindisi increased by 41.7 per cent between January and June this year, when compared with the figure for the same months in 2009, according to ACI Europe.
And hotel rooms should not be hard to come by, as STR Global has revealed an increase of 8.5 per cent in occupancy levels during June.
Anyone planning a break to Italy should take out a sufficient
travel insurance policy before leaving the UK.
