Presidential Elections Postponed Till 3rd March

12 Feb 2010
The Togolese government announced on 11 February 2010 that presidential elections have been postponed until 3 March in an effort to address several problems concerning electoral lists. Elections had been set for 28 February. The start of the electoral campaigning period has also been pushed back from 12 February to 15 February. The announcement was made after several recent government meetings, including talks with the opposition and consultations with the Economic Community of West African States' (ECOWAS) regional mediator Burkina Faso President Blaise Compaore.
