Three anti-government protesters injured when a bomb was thrown

12 Nov 2008
On 11 November 2008 at least three anti-government protesters were injured when a bomb was thrown into a tent in the Government House compound. The explosion occurred near a stage where People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) members were speaking to the crowd of protesters. Although demonstrators began to panic following the blast, the crowd was quickly brought under control. Authorities suspect that the explosion was caused by an M-79 grenade. No details have been released as to the nature of the injuries. This is the latest in a series of small explosions at PAD protest sites.
