Threat to blockade summit in February

Anti-government supporters associated with the United Front of Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) threatened on 5 January 2009 to blockade the newly announced Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit that will be held in Bangkok, the Thai capital, in late February. UDD protesters have demanded that current Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva dissolve Parliament and call a general election. The UDD also threatened to blockade Parliament as did the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) in the latter half of 2008.
