State railway launch nationwide strike

Thailand's state railway halted services on 22 June 2009 as union workers launched a nationwide strike to protest a restructuring plan. Workers from the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) have objected to the government's plans to turn the railway's management over to a private company. Free bus services are being offered in order to accommodate travellers.
