Officials try to ease tensions with Cambodia

On 5 August 2008 Thai officials stated that they would remove some of their troops from the vicinity of the Preah Vihear temple, which has become a point of conflict with Cambodia. Officials stated that further negotiations on the issue will be held on 18 August, in Hua Hin, the Thai beach resort. Meanwhile, both countries have also agreed to decrease the number of troops from the Keo Sikha Kiri Scara Pagoda near the Preah Vihear to further ease tensions.
