Large protests planned for 24th February

Protests against the government are being planned for the 24th February 2009. The protests are being led by the United Front for Democracy Against Dictatorship who are demanding that the government prosecute members of the People's Alliance for Democracy for their occupation of Bangkok airports in December last year. Protests of this scale are likely disrupt the day to day running of Bangkok, including the transport system. Travellers to Thailand during this time should plan to avoid large gatherings of people and allow additional travelling time.
