Explosion in Bangkok's sewer systems in the Chatuchak district

According to official reports, a large explosion took place in Bangkok's sewer systems in the Chatuchak district on 7 August 2008. The explosion, which took place in the early morning hours, affected streets 45, 47 and 49 near Phaholyothin Soi. Authorities indicated that although investigations are ongoing, the potential cause for the explosion was discarded oil from a local gas station. Damage was minimal, with only shattered glass reported, and transportation was not affected.
