China Airlines flight, en route from Hong Kong to Bangkok, makes emergency landing

A China Airlines flight, en route from Hong Kong to Bangkok, made an emergency landing at Suvarnabhumi Airport (VTBS/BKK) in Bangkok on 2 October 2008. The CR641 747-400 passenger aircraft, lost control during descent and experienced a sudden and steep loss of altitude. More than 30 passengers and crew sustained injuries in the incident. The aircraft landed safely at 0123 local time (0623 UTC), and the injured were rushed to three nearby hospitals in the Thai capital. An investigation is currently underway to determine what caused the mishap.
