Stockholm bus drivers go on strike

Bus drivers in Stockholm launched a strike at midnight on 30 June 2008 in pursuit of better working conditions. The labor action has reportedly resulted in increased traffic and caused disruptions for commuters on 1 July, as no buses are operating. Authorities are advising travelers to use rail lines, bicycles and taxis as an alternative. The strike may spread to Västerbotten on 8 July and to Skåne County on 15 July if an agreement between the bus drivers' union and their employer is not reached; negotiations have yet to be scheduled.
