Car bomb explosion in Bilbao

On 31 December 2008 a car bomb exploded near the EiTB television station in the Basque city of Bilbao. The explosion occurred at approximately 1100 local time (1000 UTC). The station building was evacuated and the area was closed to traffic after a call on behalf of the separatist group ETA warning of a bomb was received approximately one hour before the explosion. The building sustained significant damage, but there were no reported injuries.
