Aircraft skids off runway at Lanzarote Airport

A chartered Boeing-737 aircraft skidded off the runway at Lanzarote Airport (GCRR/ACE) in the Canary Islands, sliding into a beach, on the morning of 31 October 2008. The Thomas Cook-chartered Air Europa aircraft (flight AEA-196) was carrying 74 people and was en route from Glasgow Airport (EGPF/GLA) in the United Kingdom. No one was injured. Problems with the aircraft's under-carriage were cited as contributing to the incident. The airport has been closed for the extent of the investigation
