JOHANNESBURG AIRPORT RADAR SYSTEM FAILS

According to Airports Company of South Africa (ACSA) officials, the radar system at Johannesburg's OR Tambo International Airport (FAJS/JNB) failed on 27 August 2009, delaying domestic flights. Reports indicate that the system was down approximately from 0530 until 0630 local time. Although technicians were able to repair the system, airport officials state that domestic flights will be delayed for the rest of the day. International flights were not affected.
