Gauteng taxi drivers to strike

Gauteng province taxi drivers announced on 23 March 2009 that they will strike on 24 March. The drivers are expected to participate in a protest march over the proposed Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system that the City of Johannesburg will implement soon. Reports did not indicate if the strike will continue beyond 24 March. No further information on the details of the strike or march have been released.
