French tourists hijacked at sea

According to reports published on 3 September 2008, a vessel that was carrying an unknown number of French tourists was hijacked off the Somali coast. In light of the hijacking, a delegation was sent from the Puntland region of Somalia to Eyl, which is believed to be a pirate haven, to investigate the reports. The type of vessel that was hijacked is still unknown, but the individuals on board have been confirmed as tourists.
