Container ship seized by pirates

On 8 April 2009 Somali pirates seized a Danish-owned, U.S.-operated, container ship with 21 U.S. crewmembers on board. The incident occurred in the morning hours approximately 280 mi/450 km northeast of Eyl and was confirmed by the U.S. Navy. Authorities believe that all crewmembers are safe. The ship is the sixth one to be seized by Somali pirates over the past week.
