"Vignette" system for motoroway travel introduced from 1 July 2008

Slovenia introduced a "Vignette" system for motoroway travel from 1 July 2008; the Vignette costs €35 and is valid for the rest of 2008. It is compulsory if you wish to use the motorways in Slovenia and can be purchased at petrol stations and DARS offices in Slovenia, and in neighbouring countries near the Slovene border. The police are monitoring motorway use, and are stopping motorists who do not have a Vignette. Failure to display a Vignette will lead to an on-the-spot fine of up to €300.
