  • The Ski Resort

Sölden is no beauty, despite its traditional Tirolean-style buildings and wooded valley setting. It is a large, traffic-filled place that sprawls along both sides of a busy main road and across the valley floor. Gondolas from opposite ends of the town go up to the slopes.

    The Ski Slopes

Practically all the slopes you spend your days on are above the trees, though there are red runs through trees to the village. The two similar-sized home sectors, Gaislachkogl and Giggijoch, are linked by chair-lifts. The slopes are high and mainly north-east- or south-east-facing; and there are two extensive glaciers. Expect big queues at the chairs on the way to and from the glacier.

    Après Ski

The mountain restaurants, often self-service, get very crowded. Eating out often requires reservations, but Sölden’s après-ski is justly famous. It starts up the mountain, and progresses to packed bars in and around the main street, and later to countless places with live bands and throbbing discos, often with table dancing and/or striptease. In the town, there’s a sports centre, a swimming pool and an ice rink.

We'd like to wish you an enjoyable holiday in the snow and please don't hesitate to get in touch with us if you have any queries regarding your insurance cover.
