20 Mar 2009
Criminals armed with automatic weapons attacked passengers near the VIP hall at Vnukovo International Airport in Moscow on 19 March 2009. The four men dressed in camouflage attacked two Russian business-class travellers and stole a bag that contained more than US$1 million in cash before escaping in a car with fake government license plates. The victim had reportedly arrived at the airport from the southern region of Dagestan. At least one source also reported that the criminals stopped a bus transiting passengers to an aircraft, ordered everyone off the vehicle and took one of the passengers hostage.
