Direct Travel insurance calls for all travellers to be extra vigilant when booking a flight on the internet. This follows recent press coverage on airlines deliberately flouting EU laws by automatically adding costly travel insurance to passenger bookings.
Direct Travel Insurance, one of the UK’s leading travel insurance providers recommends that all travellers shop around for travel insurance and look out for “the tick box” when booking their flights online in order to opt out of the expensive insurance. Instead, UK travellers should choose specialist travel insurance providers and potentially halve the cost of holiday cover.
Jonathan Hewett, Vice President - Consumer Marketing at Direct Travel Insurance said: “Buying insurance at the same time as your flights may seem like the most convenient option, but I strongly believe that the process should be made clearer. That way, customers would be fully aware of what they are being charged for and able to make an informed decision.
The opt-out process some airlines still have can easily be overlooked and customers who may already have travel insurance could be “tricked” into buying unnecessary cover. We, at Direct Travel Insurance, are proud to offer great value for money in addition to outstanding customer service.”
